Me and my best friend are drifting apart... :(?

Ok, me and my friend sam have been friends ever since pre school were in 10th grade now so yea thats a hella long time lol. and we had no problems EVER we may get annoyed with eachother but we would always be fine the next day we hung out all the time we never got bored of eachother untill 9th grade. in 9th grade i started being a douche bag and try not to talk to him or be near him in the halways even though he would come up to me and talk to me and stuff like that and i sorta did it at the begining of this year too... but then halfway threw i realized people didnt care if i had friends that were nerds people "liked" me for "me" but now im trying to talk to him again and now, im coming off as the desprate one... he has a new best friend he made last year and now im all alone with "friends" that wont even text me. I use to make people like me by being my goofy self, now im a wanna be loser who nobody cares about... i just want my friend back and it hurts that i pushed him away. please help :(
