Ps3 hack question?????????

my ps3 disk drive is missing the eye and laser (that little board) and every time i load up a backed up game right after it says loading the screen goes black . i installed what was said to fix it(FIXATHORITIES.PKG) and it still does it. Is all i am doing a lost cause? if there is a way to do it can someone explain step by step. Useing multiMAN(newest version).
