Sounds like he's just toying with you and your emotions for his own selfish pleasure and reasons. I'm not sure about your whole situation, but it sounds like he only pays attention to you when it suits him best or when he's in the right mood. Just leave him and forget him; he's not worth your time, and certainly not worth the heartbreak and energy.
